In the night Larissa began to have sleepless night
she couldn’t sleep nor lay still on the bed
She tried so many times and she couldn’t
She look at her sleeping grandma snoring with her head facing the wall
She stood up and walk around her room
she opened her closet and bring out the journal to write something down
She wrote what kante said about her pregnancy
She Hope and wished it comes to pass
She has always been desiring to have a twins and they must surely come to pass
She cover the journal and look at the room happily and back to her grandma
She didn’t want to wake her because she knows she has been tired since morning
And as old woman there’s always a limit to anything they do
She decided to stroll out in the midnight to at least received fresh air
She knew most of the guards might be sleeping at that moment
So
She quietly opened her door and walked out closing it behind her
“Look at these lazy bunch of guards
they are all sleeping instead of protecting the palace.
She shakes her head and continue her strolling.
She stopped immediately at the backside of the house because of the reflection of light she saw.
Who could have been awake by this time also?
She hide at the back of a palm tree holding big stomach because of the sensitive reaction from her babies.
She peeped out to check who it might be when a hand suddenly tapped her from behind.
She almost had her heart shattered into pieces as she saw the king behind her.
“What are you doing here?.”
“I should be asking you that also?.”
She answered, still shocked.
“I saw you walking passed my room
and you know I have promised to always watch out for you.
“You mean you haven’t sleep my king?.”
“Yes. And why are you out this late night?.
“I couldn’t sleep because of the baby
I was just rolling and turning around every minute.
So I decided to take a walk if….
“In this midnight???.”
“Of course yes
infact coming outside I saw how the guards have all slept.
“Who are those?.”
He asked after seeing the light from afar.
“That is what I also don’t know.
I hope they are not troop from the nearest village?
“I don’t think so.”
He said standing behind her.
“A king is not supposed to be out this late night.
“And is it right for a Queen either
most especially a pregnant one for that matter.
“I have told you my reasons my king.
“And I think I have said mine also.”
He whispered wrapping his hands on her belly.
But I hope this will not cause harm for my babies.
“Babies? “.
She asked sarcastically, looking at him in surprised.
“Of course! Or don’t you desire a twins.
I really love then a lot and I have been praying and wished to have one.
She turned towards him facing him now.
“I hope our prayers come to pass again.”
“Amen!.” He shouted a little timid.
They noticed the light was turned off as the person entered their visitors chamber.
The king went back to where the guards are quietly and tap them repeatedly but none of them answered.
"Useless guards!"
He muttered angrily and Walk back to meet Larissa.
"Are they awake?"
"Those foools are still sleeping like dogs!
"Didn't that look strange my king?"
She face him.
"Strange
or they prefer to sleep like dogs
even dogs sleep at alert.
"I am scared my king"
she shivered.
"Don't be scared
I'm here.
"I hope it's not Queen Akila."
"What would Akila be doing outside this late.
"She's not to be trusted.
"Why did you say that?
"Because....because she is the one responsible for the tragedy happening in the palace.
The king laughed and rub her face jokingly.
"Are you sure you are not sleep talking, Larissa?
"I am serious about it.
I should have told you this
but I was scared that you might not believe me
or Akila might kill me or you by all means.
The king laughed again deeply.
"Larissa, stop day dreaming okay.
Akila will never do such
okay.
So stop your assumption and let me find out what is going on.
"I am not...."
He interrupted her immediately.
“Who Could that be?
(Moving to go but she held him back)
why Larissa?
Is this not my kingdom?
I have to protect my kingdom.
Unlike all the guards
they slept off as if been blown a spell.
“No! My king please don’t go!.”
Before she could hold back his hand he moves forward fearlessly.
Larissa became frightening for him and watch him going from the tree she is hiding.
